The Kennet & Avon Canal Through Time

The Kennet & Avon Canal Through Time contains 180 photographs of the Kennet and Avon Canal, of which 90 are old photographs. Some are printed in a sepia tone and some in full colour. These photographs are printed alongside a contemporary full colour photograph which illustrates the same scene. The contrasting illustrations show how the area has changed and developed during the last 100 years. Although photography has been commonly in use only since the early years of the twentieth century, the changes, particularly urban, have been considerable since then – especially the transition from industrial use to leisure pursuits. This book is a record of those changes and is sure to be of interest to canal enthusiasts everywhere.
